Tasting Note
After tasting several very good vintages of Marzocco di Poppiano Chianti Riserva, I decided to offer 2021 for its exceptional balance of power and elegance. This is a wine for cellaring. In my opinion drinking it’s best between 2026 – 2031. However, if you like to live in the moment, as I do, and can’t wait until 2026, decanting is in order. Made from 100% Sangiovese the wine is aged in French oak barriques for 18 months after an extended period (25 days) of skin contact. In the glass, this careful crafting translates into a medium to full-bodied wine, with a bouquet of cherries jubilee, raspberry, vanilla and baking spice. Well-structured tannins enclose the perfectly ripe red berry and red currant fruit of the palate. It is a delightful match for a standing rib roast served with truffled mashed potatoes.
