Jaros Abillo Major 2023

Tasting Note

Albillo Mayor, the ancient white grape variety of Ribera del Duero, historically used in the region’s blends, has recently been turning heads with single-variety wines. The 2023 Jaros is an excellent example, with layers of flavour, great balance, and a notably long finish. Its bouquet is filled with toasty oak, apple, citrus, mineral and hay aromas, followed by notes of peach, lime, vanilla and spice on the palate. This youthful wine is ready to drink but will continue to evolve in the cellar through 2028. It makes a delightful pairing for seared scallops in garlic butter, cheesy French onion soup or chicken cordon bleu. Louise Wilson Cormier, Master of Wine – November 2024.
